It is said that the skin is the reflection of our internal health. Skincare cannot be done by using topical solutions. Yes, topical solutions are important but taking care of your skin from inside is as much necessary.
Here, we will give the most important rules to take good care of your skin. Most people either don’t know about these rules or fail to follow them. But once you start following the below rules religiously, you will love your own skin even more.
Here are few simple rules that You should follow to get a younger looking skin.
Skin Care Rules # 1: Start the day with a CTM routine
Cleaning your facial skin is important, but this is the step where most women make mistakes. Most people skip the toning and moisturizing part. It is not a good habit, cleanliness should always be followed by toning and moisturizing.
So make a rule to follow complete CTM (Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing) routine every morning.
Step 1: Cleansing
Use a gentle skin toner depending on the type of your skin. Well, it is always good to use a pH neutral cleanser. However, if your skin has excess oils, you can use soap based cleansers as well.
First, damp your skin with water. Then Apply an even layer of cleansing lotion on your skin. Gently massage your skin with the lotion for 2-3 minutes. Do not scratch your skin. At the end, wash your face with lukewarm water to rinse off the lotion.
Step 2: Toning
Many argue that you don’t need Skin Toners for your morning skincare routine – they are partly right. The ambiguity is caused by the various types of skin toners sold in the market nowadays.
Many believe that toners are only needed to remove the makeup and chemical residue from the skin. Actually, to remove oil-based cosmetics you can use Skin toners that contain alcohol in them.
Toners also come in water-based formulas. On such herbal skin-toner is rose water. It hydrates the skin and prevents early signs of wrinkles. Take a cotton ball – drench it in rose water and wipe your skin gently with it for 2-3 minutes.
Step 3: Moisturizing
You will have to it immediately before the toner dries off your skin. You should never skip on skin moisturizers. It is the most important step in the skincare. You must ask Why moisturizing is so important? We will tell you…
The moisturizer we apply on the skin creates a protective layer. This layer prevents the loss of hydration from the skin to the outer atmosphere. Thus, it keeps the skin safe from dehydrating and damaging, especially in dry colds and warm weather.
In many countries, women have been traditionally using oils of coconut, almond, or other herbs as moisturizers. However, modern beauty experts do not advise the same if your skin is oily. Then you can use another moisturizer available in the market.
Skin Care Rules #2: Take care of your Eyes
The very first signs of aging and wrinkles appear on the skin around eyes and forehead. These thin lines around eyes are called as ‘Crow’s Feet’ and ‘Sleep Lines’.
The skin under and around eyes is thinner than the rest of the face, hence the area requires special attention.
To reduce the symptoms of aging such as fine lines, eye wrinkles, Crows Feet, and eye bags use a good quality eye cream. Drink plenty of water as the hydration helps in preventing early aging.
Wear a cap to reduce the chances of sun damage on the skin around eyes, also, wear sunglasses while going out in the sun.
Also, try to moisture the skin from outside. You can use aloe vera gel or cucumber pulp for the purpose.
Skin Care Rules #3: Eat Healthily
In addition to the topical treatments, a healthy diet is also important to meet the nutritional needs of the body. Eat more fruits and green vegetables as they contain antioxidants. Antioxidants prevent the wrinkles and repair the damaged skin.
Avoid excessive consumption of coffee, tea, soda, processed foods, sugar, and oily foods. They not only make you unhealthy on the inside but also make your skin look dull.
Eat more fruits, clear juices and green vegetables – but remember to not add extra salt or spices to them. Cook vegetables with less oil. Also, do not add extra sugar to your smoothies and juices.
Skin Care Rules #4: Sweat it out
Sweating is a natural way to cleanse your skin from inside out. Do enough exercises and workouts every day. Play sports, go swimming… do anything that physically exerts your body till you sweat. Take a shower after such activities to clean the salt and toxins came out to the surface with sweat.
Sweating helps in maintaining the elasticity of your skin. Also, being physically active keeps your fit overall.
Skin Care Rules #5: Protect your Skin
Pollution, bad weather and sun are the biggest enemies of your skin. Though a mild darkening or suntan on skin seem innocent, longer exposure can seriously damage your skin. In rare cases, these can even cause skin cancer. Always wear a sunscreen before going out in sun.
Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going out, this allows the skin to absorb the sunscreen. Wear a cap/scarf to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Covering your face with a scarf is a good way of protecting skin from pollutants and dry air in winters.
